Hockey Bags Lose hard fought game 9-8

SIMPSON, SASK. March 5, 2006

After two exciting 35-minute periods of hockey in the Simpson hockey rink, the famous women's team Hockey Bags narrowly went down to defeat 9-8. The Hockey Bags are mostly from the Watrous district. Three players are from Simpson.

It was a relatively clean and hard fought game. No holding penalties. Gloves were seen on the ice only once, but it appeared to be settled in friendly fashion.  Both goalies were from the Hockey Bag roster; they traded teams after the first period. The opposing team, said to consist mainly of husbands and boy friends, pulled off their win in the last few seconds of  the game, when their hotshot import goalie pulled off a sensational save. Otherwise we would have seen a tie game, to be settled by a shoot out.

This writer briefly interviewed two of the losing team right after the game to find out the team name of their opponents. It sounded something like THOSE LUCKY BLANKETY BLANK SO-AND-SOS. . . (That seems like a rather strange name to me. . . maybe I didn't hear it correctly. . . stay tuned in case the spelling is wrong . . . )
