Congratulations Simpson! Each Simpson Homecoming surpasses the previous one, and this year was no exception. The community spirit, dedication and hard work provided another successful Homecoming weekend.
It has been 41 years since I lived west of Simpson, and I haven’t missed a Homecoming yet. The report and pictures about the Homecoming and other events on the Simpson website are very interesting. Our first impression when we pulled into Simpson Friday evening was how green and manicured the yards were. We couldn’t help but notice Mr. Lloyd Mattson’s lush crop of potatoes on Main Street. In addition, the potted plants provided a splash of colour, and the new metal signs added just the right touch!
It was fun to share stories with former teachers, classmates and friends, some of whom I rode with on the school bus west of Simpson for many years. Friday evening we had a great time at the Edwin Kopp residence reminiscing with friends at a surprise birthday party in honour of our former classmate, Garry Kopp, who turned a “noteworthy” age!
Before returning home to Regina on Monday afternoon, we stopped off at the cemetery. The Cemetery Committee is to be applauded for their great job of maintaining the grounds and fence.
Yes, the Homecoming Committee and Simpson community pulled off another amazing feat! Thanks for your great “down home” hospitality. See you in 2011!
